A Memorable Experience at BIM World Copenhagen

BIM World Copenhagen 2024 venue

Attending BIM World Copenhagen 2024 was an eye-opening experience that left me both inspired and energised. From cutting-edge technology to insightful presentations, the event highlighted how Building Information Modelling is reshaping the construction and design industries. The focus this year was sustainability, automation, and how digital transformation is shaping the future of built environments.

Immersive technology and innovations

The exhibition hall was filled with groundbreaking innovations — AR-enabled tools that allow architects to visualise building designs in real-time, directly on-site. These were not theoretical prototypes. They were tangible, practical, and ready for deployment.

Keynote sessions

Leading industry professionals shared insights on digital construction, sustainable design, and data-driven decision-making. One presentation stood out — the role of AI and machine learning in predictive analysis, helping contractors identify issues before they arise.

Another highlight was the session on sustainability and circular economy in construction, emphasising how BIM can facilitate more eco-friendly projects by streamlining planning, material selection, and lifecycle management.

Convergence of Technology keynote session — BIM World Copenhagen 2024

"The shift toward green building practices was not just a trend but a movement gaining momentum across Europe — and Copenhagen seemed like the perfect backdrop to explore it."

Networking and collaboration

BIM World Copenhagen was also a fantastic networking platform. I had the chance to connect with like-minded professionals — software developers, architects, urban planners, and sustainability experts. The energy was collaborative, with a shared passion for pushing boundaries and exploring what is possible when technology meets creativity.

What struck me most was the sense of community. The event was not just about showcasing products — it was fostering open dialogue about the challenges and opportunities in the industry.

Closing thoughts

It was an enriching experience that reinforced a simple idea: BIM is no longer a niche tool for architects. It is a critical element for all stages of the construction lifecycle.

Leaving Copenhagen, I felt optimistic about the possibilities ahead — motivated to apply some of the insights and tools I encountered at BIM World to what we are building at Draftingware.
